Jake Sheldon is a fourth year student from Annapolis, Maryland. He is majoring in mathematics and economics. His interest in TEDxUVA came from an organic interest in TED talks and a desire to be on the creative side of them.
parker lazear co-chair of Logistics
parker is a second-year hoping to study political philosophy policy and law and math. this is her second year as a part of the logistics committee and she is excited to further explore her creativity with logistics. aside from ted she is also involved with kappa kappa psi, the cavalier marching band, and challah for hunger. her favorite ted talk is “a black man goes undercover in the alt-right.”
Holden Miles CO-CHAIR OF MARKETING
holden is a third-year student in the UVA School of Architecture majoring in Architectural Design. This is his first year as a member of the TEDx team and is part of the marketing committee. His interests in design and advertising is what made him seek the marketing position his first year as a gen-bod member. His hobbies include playing cheap guitars and telling his friends that he’s too busy to go out because he as too much homework.
Sarah corning co-curator
Sarah Corning is a third year from Atlanta, Georgia. She is majoring in Political Science and studies multiple foreign languages. Sarah plans on going to law school, and pursuing a career in the global humanitarian field. Outside of TEDxUVA Sarah is involed in the Honor Committee and volunteers and translates at the Legal Aid Justice Center in Charlottesville. her favorite ted talk is "don't ask where I am from, ask where i am a local" by Taiye selasi.
Jeremy HaigleR Co-chair of Speakers
Jeremy is a second-year student hoping to study Commerce and Economics in the future. As a member of TEDxUVA’s Speakers Committee, he is excited to help bring engaging and inspirational speakers to the UVA community. On the off chance that he isn’t eating or sleeping, Jeremy enjoys playing soccer, hiking, going to the movies, and meeting new people.
Eryn Meyer CO-CHAIR of speakers
eryn is a second Year in the College. Wanting to share her love for TED Talks, she created and directed an event at her high school called “RAMtalks,” where students could audition and give their own version of a TED Talk. Now she’s excited to be a member of the Speakers Committee at TEDxUVA. Eryn is passionate about feminism, dessert, and exploring the great outdoors.
Grace Douthit Co-chair of logistics
grace is third year student in the School of Architecture majoring in Architectural Design Thinking. This is her first year as a member of the TEDx community and is part of the logistics committee. Her studies in architecture made her seek out logistics because she thought that she could benefit from a different design setting that is not school related. She enjoys going to art museums and watching ted talks DUH!
LALITHA MANNAVA CO-CHAIR OF MARKETING
Lalitha Mannava IS a third-year in the College. she is currently pursuing a double major in computer science and economics. As a first year, lALITHA got involved with TEDxUVA, primarily through the Marketing Committee and was in charge of creating graphics for our Student Speaker Competition and Annual Conference. Besides TEDxUVA, SHE IS involved in various other CIO’s on-Grounds like FBLA-PBL, Smart Women Securities, and wbfm at McIntire. Aside from school, lalitha enjoys long drives, cooking, and dancing.
JOHN BARRON chair of outreach
John is a third year from Denver, Colorado in the College of Arts and Sciences. In addition to TEDxUVA, he enjoys tennis and piano as well as being involved in Lions Club on Grounds. his favorite TED talk is by Sir Ken Robinson on whether school kills creativity.
Isabelle fitzgerald treasurer
Isabelle is a fourth year from Manhattan, New York pursuing a double major in Biology and Economics, with a minor in Technology Entrepreneurship. She is particularly interested in the the interaction and overlap of healthcare, biotechnology, and finance. Outside of TEDxUVa, Isabelle is an Echols Student Ambassador and a member of HackCville, the school's student entrepreneurship group
